Lawyer Training and Team-Building Retreats

A Unique and Interactive Experience in a Beautiful Setting

Help your lawyers grow and flourish with our two-day Training and Team-Building Retreat in beautiful Traverse City, Michigan. Not every law firm has a huge in-house team to plan and execute an off-site retreat—we will do the heavy lifting for you.

Working closely with your law firm’s leaders and professional development team, we will craft a customized experience for your lawyers that will equip them with the training they need to develop leadership skills, become more productive, succeed at business development, and become thought leaders.

Our retreats, and the training and programming provided, are specifically geared toward senior associates and junior partners in mid-sized to large law firms. All training is interactive and hands-on, and led by lawyer, author, and executive coach Jay Harrington, one of the nation’s leading legal marketing and business development consultants. While each program is customized to meet a client’s needs, some of the training modules that are typically included at a retreat include:

productivity

Most productivity advice centers around disparate and unrelated productivity tips or hacks. In our training, we lay out a comprehensive system that will:

  1. Challenge lawyers to determine what they really desire out of their lives and careers.

  2. Prompt them to examine their limiting beliefs about what they’re capable of accomplishing.

  3. Provide them with fresh and unconventional ideas that will transform the way they think about productivity. They’ll be armed with the knowledge and tools you need to prioritize the time necessary to build a profitable legal practice.

THOUGHT LEADERSHIP

Thought leadership is not just another tactic—it’s the most effective form of marketing that a lawyer can engage in. We help lawyers think through the strategic issues, and provide lots of best practices, that help lawyers stand out in the marketplace of ideas.

Business development

We help lawyers improve their individual business development skills and affirm their commitments to winning new business and retaining existing clients. From building a powerful network to closing new business opportunities, our training covers the critical skills every lawyer must know to build a practice.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many partners can attend?
Retreats typically involve 10-25 lawyers, but we can accommodate more (or less) if necessary.

What is the cost?
Once we understand the scope of the retreat that you envision, including the number of attendees and the extent of activities, we will provide you with a flat-rate price quote for the event. We do not mark-up or surcharge third-party costs (for catering, hotels accommodations, etc.). Any cost-savings we negotiate are passed along to our clients.

During what time of the year do you host retreats?
Due to the amount of planning that goes into each client’s project, we plan no more than four new partner retreats during the months of September and October. In light of the limited number of retreats we handle, it’s important to book your firm’s time slot early.

Why Traverse City?
Traverse City is an ideal destination to host a law firm retreat. Set on the shores of Lake Michigan, it’s one of the most beautiful places in the country to experience stunning beaches, tranquil forests, outdoor recreation, world-class golf courses, award-winning restaurants, wineries, craft breweries and so much more.

Plus, it’s easy to get to. Traverse City’s Cherry Capital Airport  is serviced by American, Delta, United and Allegiant, and has non-stop flights from Phoenix/Mesa, Chicago, Denver, Detroit, Minneapolis, Charlotte, New York, Newark, Philadelphia, Dallas, Atlanta, Orlando, Washington, DC, Punta Gorda and St. Petersburg. In addition, Traverse City is located within a short day’s drive from major cities, such as Detroit, Chicago, Grand Rapids, and Indianapolis, in the Midwest.

Provide your senior associates and/or new partners with a retreat experience like no other. They will walk away from their retreat energized and inspired to tackle the challenges that lay ahead of them. Our mission is to help your people—and therefore your law firm—perform at their highest potential.
